Acupuncture for CrossFit
I work with CrossFit athletes, so I know what the sport demands — heavy overhead lifts, kipping pull-ups, box jumps, all at intensity. The shoulder irritation, the lower back strain, the wrist pain. My job is to keep you in the box, not on the bench.
Common CrossFit Injuries I Treat
- Shoulder labrum irritation — kipping pull-ups, snatches, and ring dips hammer the labrum. A deep ache or a click under load is the classic flag.
- Lower back strain — heavy deadlifts, cleans, and wall balls under fatigue can strain the lumbar muscles and leave you locked up for days.
- Knee pain — high-rep box jumps, wall balls, and heavy squats beat up the patellar tendon and the structures around the knee.
- Wrist strain — front-rack cleans, overhead squats, and handstand push-ups load the wrist hard, and the pain shows up every time you rack a bar.
How I Work With CrossFit Athletes
I work with CrossFit athletes using orthopedic acupuncture and dry needling to calm irritated labrums and tendons, release locked-up lumbar and hip tissue, and restore the positions your lifts demand. My assessment is sport-specific: I look at your movement patterns, your programming, and your training load — not just where it hurts. I also put athletes through EXSTORE testing (Examine, Restore) to determine which muscles aren’t firing properly, so treatment targets the real problem. And everything I do is aimed at return to play, with a clear plan to get you back on the whiteboard, hitting your WODs, and chasing PRs again.
Supplements I often suggest
For CrossFit, these are the supplements I suggest most often in my practice:
- PerfectAmino Powder, Mixed Berry (BodyHealth) — Essential amino acids for muscle protein synthesis — no calories, won’t break a fast.
- Creatine Monohydrate Powder, Unflavored (Designs for Health) — Supports muscle growth and performance when paired with resistance training.
- OmegAvail Hi-Po Fish Oil (Designs for Health) — 1,600 mg EPA/DHA per serving with lipase for absorption — no fishy aftertaste.
