Acupuncture for Cycling

I treat athletes because I am one. I know what cycling does to your body — hours hunched over handlebars, the neck and shoulder tension, the lower back ache, the knee pain that shows up on climbs. I’ve felt it all. My job is to keep you in the saddle, not on the couch.

Common Cycling Injuries I Treat

  • Lower back pain — hours in the drops and a tight hip flexor chain overload the lumbar spine.
  • Knee pain — saddle height and cleat position issues irritate the patellar tendon on climbs.
  • Neck/shoulder tension — craning up to see the road builds knots between the shoulder blades.
  • IT band tightness — repetitive pedaling strokes tighten the IT band and irritate the outer knee.

How I Work With Cycling Athletes

I use orthopedic acupuncture and dry needling to release locked-up tissue, calm irritated tendons, and restore the range of motion your position demands. Treatment is built around your riding, so we keep you on the bike while you recover. I also put athletes through EXSTORE testing (Examine, Restore) to determine which muscles aren’t firing properly, so treatment targets the real problem. The goal is simple: a strong, sustainable return to full mileage.

Supplements I often suggest

For cycling, these are the supplements I suggest most often in my practice:

  • PerfectAmino Powder, Mixed Berry (BodyHealth) — Essential amino acids for muscle protein synthesis — no calories, won’t break a fast.
  • Creatine Monohydrate Powder, Unflavored (Designs for Health) — Supports muscle growth and performance when paired with resistance training.
  • OmegAvail Hi-Po Fish Oil (Designs for Health) — 1,600 mg EPA/DHA per serving with lipase for absorption — no fishy aftertaste.
